VN Index sinks to six-month low

Vietnamese shares suffered terrible losses on December 17, the worst since May 2014, while the other Asian markets ended mixed.

 

The VN Index lost 16.95 points, or more than three per cent, to sink to its six-month low of 518.22, while the HNX also lost 2.22 points to close at 80.61.

However, the other stocks in the Asian market ended higher. The Shanghai Composite Index earned 39.50 points to end the day at 3,061.02 in mainland China. The Straits Times Index gained 15.25 points to end at 3,230.34 in Singapore.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 added 64.41 points to close at 16,819.73, but the Topix Index declined 1.36 points to end at 1,352.01. The Hang Seng Index fell 84.66 points to close at 22,585.84 in Hong Kong.
