Maiden downtown duty-free store opens

China Duty Free Group (CDFG) held the grand opening of their first downtown duty-free shop, known as Angkor Duty Free Store, yesterday on 4,500 square metres of retail space, where around a hundred people attended, most from tour companies.

Angkor Duty Free Store is located in the centre of Siem Reap in Slokram commune, 50 metres from National Road 6A.

John Zhao, general manager of CDFG-Cambodia, said it is the first time a duty-free store has been opened outside of the country’s airports, where quality products made by famous brands from all around the world are available for purchase “Currently, we have 200 duty free stores around the world and the biggest duty-free store is in China” he said.

Zhao said that there are around 200 luxury global brands available in the Angkor Duty Free Store such as Dior, SK II, Shiseido, Lancome, Estee Lauder, Clinique, Burberry, Hugo Boss, Bally, MK, Longines, Tissot, Rado. The local products of Artisans d’Angkor are also present in the store as well.

In the press release yesterday, he revealed that in order to celebrate the International New Year, Chinese New Year and Khmer New Year, the store will also offer a special discount as the price will be discounted by 15-35 per cent.

The Post reported in August that CDFG-Cambodia’s second duty-free store will be opened in Phnom Penh in 2015. China Duty Free Group, established in 1984, is the only State-owned enterprise authorised by the State Council to operate duty-free business across China.
