Deal to aid Chinese tourism
Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism signed an agreement yesterday with the Chinese International Travel Corporation (CITS) in a bid to boost Chinese outbound tourism to the Kingdom.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) will see the state-owned CITS establish a branch in the Kingdom as well as continued investment into Chinese tourism attractions, officials said at yesterday.
“As part of the MoU, a CITS’s duty-free shop will be inaugurated in the cultural city of Siem Reap province tomorrow [Tuesday],” Wang Weimin, Chairman of the state-owned China International Travel Service Corp.
Cambodian Tourism Minister Thong Khon said the agreement marked another step in Chinese-Cambodian relations.
“This MoU will be an efficient method to boost better corporation between Cambodia-China to be closer and to better link the two nations in tourism, economic, social and culture,” he said.
