Can Tho enjoys $970m trade surplus

The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho recorded a $970 million trade surplus in 2014, according to the municipal Department of Planning and Investment.

The city earned $1.35 billion from exports and spent $380 million on imports. Vice Director of the municipal Department of Industry and Trade Duong Nghia Hiep attributed the performance to the city's efforts to boost promotion and production of rice, seafood and garments.
These key export items brought in $950 million, making up 70.3 per cent of this year's exports.
