VN takes part in world travel expo

Vietnamese tourism is showing off the country's destinations and tourism services at the 2014 World Travel Market that opened yesterday in the British capital London.

The Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism, Vietnam Airlines, hotels, and tourism companies are attending the three-day event with technical support from the EU-funded Environmentally & Socially Responsible Tourism Capacity Development Programme.

At the event, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho Anh Tuan and the Vietnamese ambassador to the UK, Nguyen Van Thao, spoke to the media about Viet Nam tourism.

The administration and Vietnam Airlines officials provided up-to-date information with a message depicting Vietnam as a "safe, friendly and attractive" destination.

In 2015, in addition to popular destinations like Ha Noi, Ha Long Bay, Sa Pa, Hue, Da Nang, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Binh Thuan, and HCM City, a variety of new destinations and tours that promise to appeal to European visitors are also set to be marketed – like Son Doong Cave, the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, and Ha Long Bay by seaplane.

"World Travel Market attracts almost 50,000 industry representatives from around the globe and business worth around £2.2 billion (US$3.52 billion) was transacted at the event last year," Tuan said.

"It is only right, therefore, that Viet Nam's tourism offerings are [showcased] at the event."

Le Thanh Dung, head of Vietnam Airlines's London office, said the carrier plans to introduce more services, making it more convenient for visitors from Europe, the UK in particular, to travel to Viet Nam.
