Dai Nam entertainment complex to suspend operations

Dai Nam Joint Stock Company's Dai Nam entertainment complex will suspend operations from November 10 to December 31, the company reported last November 4.

The decision on the complex's temporary closure was made following Conclusion No. 1549/KL-TTCP, which the Government Inspectorate of Viet Nam (GIV) issued last July 4 to reduce the period for residential land use inside the company's Song Than III Industrial Park.

Under the Conclusion, the land use period was shortened from 70 years to 50 years. Dai Nam Company General Director Huynh Uy Dung disagreed, saying his company's financial record was inspected "too frequently" in recent days.

At a meeting with news agencies last November 4, Binh Duong Provincial Standing Vice Chairman Tran Van Nam said the land use period was reduced following GIV's conclusion and the directive of provincial authorities.

"Binh Duong provincial officials have not caused any difficulty that would have made Dai Nam entertainment complex close," added Nam.

On the frequent inspection of Dai Nam Company's tax balance, Le Van Trang, director of Binh Duong's Department of Tax, said his department inspected the company's service area last July.

Trang revealed that last October 16, the department sent a notice to the company notifying about a future inspection on legal compliance in the Park. However, the inspection did not take place because the company said it was not prepared.

Dai Nam entertainment complex has an initial investment of VND6,000 billion (USD$285 million) and spreads over a 700ha area in this province's Thu Dau Mot City.
