Support industry project eyes European market

A project to help Viet Nam's support industry meet the requirements of the European market was launched on Wednesday at a workshop in Ha Noi.

The project, which targets small and medium-d enterprises, will be implemented in Ha Noi, HCM City and several other provinces with a budget of nearly 413,000 euros (US$514,000). The EU will provide 371,000 euros ($460,800) under the European Trade Policy and Investment Support Project (EU-MUTRAP).

The project will fund practical activities such as research on local production capacity and training courses in technical knowledge and management skills. It will also provide support for Vietnamese businesses to attend relevant exhibitions overseas, according to director of the Supporting Industry Enterprise Development Centre Truong Thi Chi Binh.

Industrial Policy and Strategy Institute deputy director Ho Le Nghia noted that the Government prioritised the development of the support industry with a view to enlarging its role in the global supply chain. Thus, European and international customers would benefit from the project in addition to domestic enterprises, he said.
