Stocks continue to slide as investor sentiment dampens

Circular 36 continued to have negative impact on investor sentiment, with stock indices losing value this morning.

On the HCM Stock Exchange, the VN-Index retreated to end at 586.22 points, while the HNX-Index also fell 0.48 per cent to close at 88.71 points.

Trading remained modest, with the total trading value reaching just VND1.79 trillion (US$84 million) on the two exchanges.

Buy orders again focused on speculative stocks such as FLC Group (FLC), Tan Tao Investment Industry (ITA), and Ocean Group (OGC) on the HCM City market, and KLF Joint Venture Global Investment (KLF) and PetroVietnam Construction Corp (PVX) on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange.

These stocks were also the most active this morning, with six to 11 million shares being traded on each stock.

The afternoon trading will resume at 1pm.
