The first pr ivate company, who signed a memorandum of understanding for a feasibility study with the department, was SP C ompany Limited.
An agreement was signed at a hotel in Attapeu last Wednesday by Company Director Mr Sipone Thongsanith and the department's Director Mr Soulichan Phonekeo.
Governor of Attapeu province Dr Nam Viyaket witnessed the ceremony along with other invited officials from relevant line departments in the province.
Mr Soulichan said the company was set to commence its feasibility study and ground survey over the five hectares within this month.
“If they can find alabaster stone for quarrying in their allocated areas, the two parties will make a five-year concession agreement for excavation,” Mr Soulichan said.
