UAE now 5th largest export market

Viet Nam's exports to the United Arab Emirates in the first five months rose 27 per cent year-on-year to an estimated US$2.03 billion, making the Emirates the country's fifth largest market, according to the General Department of Viet Nam Customs.

The US, China, Japan, and South Korea are the top four markets.

Most of the key export items to the UAE, such as telephones, computers, electronic products, pepper, garment and textile, and footwear, saw high growth during the period.

Exports of telephones and parts were up 20 per cent from the same period last year to $1.64 billion.

Shipments of electronics products and accessories jumped by 80 per cent to $96.6 million.

Pepper and garments and textiles saw exports rise by 75 per cent and 91 per cent to $50.2 million and $43.1 million.

Exports to the UAE are estimated at $2.4 billion in the first half, a year-on-year increase of 25 per cent.
