Hoa Phat's steel sales increase in 2014

The Hoa Phat Group has sold 445,000 steel plates used in construction in the first six months of this year, a 37.74 per cent increase year over year.

According to its recent production report, the volume of its steel sales account for 18 per cent of the domestic market, a 15.2 per cent growth compared with its market share in 2013. It is the first time that its sales in central and southern Viet Nam have increased by the same amount, with approximately 45,000 tonnes in each area. This may partly be due to the expansion of its production in the second quarter in the central city of Da Nang to meet the market demand in the central region and the Central Highlands.

Hoa Phat signed contracts to export steel mills to the Philippines and Thailand early this year. In June 2014, it exported steel coils to the Australian market for the first time and signed a contract to provide steel for construction material to its partners in Laos.

The sales of Hoa Phat's steel pipes too increased by more than 30 per cent in the first six months of the year, compared with the same period of 2013. The sales of black steel-welded pipes and galvanised seamless steel pipes increased by 66.2 per cent.
