Thai Modernform furniture enters Lao market

A large furniture showroom to supply the popular Thai branded Modernform products was officially opened on Sunday in Thongtoum village, Chanthabouly district, Vientiane.

The showroom is the result of business cooperation between a major construction equipment and supplies distributor of Laos, Souvanny Trading Import-Export Sole Co. Ltd, and the Modernform Group Public Co Ltd of Thailand.

“We are very happy Modernform Group selected Souvanny Trading Import-Export Sole Co. Ltd to be the authorised dealer of the Modernform products in Laos,” said the director of Souvanny Trading Impo rt-Export Sole Co. Ltd Managing Director Mr Waddana Soukabandith.

The opening ceremony for the new showroom was attended by officials and representatives from the related state sectors, private sector and cust omers.

Modernform Group Public Co. Ltd is Thailand's leading furniture manufacturer striving to create innovative and inspirational ideas in both the office and the home.

“It is a premium and high grade product,” Mr Waddana said and added that the Modernform products have been sold in Laos for some years but not formally. “It now officially enters the Lao market.”

The Modernform products will offer readymade furniture and will also take accurate measurements of where furniture is to be installed, and design it to ensure it meets the customers' requirements.

The entering of the Modernform brand is a model example of regional business linkages in preparation for the Asean Economic Community which comes into being in 2015.

“We have seen many construction projects by both local and foreign investors, especially in building construction, so the demand for quality and premium furniture is getting larger and that will push furniture market growth,” Mr Waddana said.

Souvanny Trading Import-Export Sole Co. Ltd opened in 1988 as a small construction equipment shop. It now has three branches that sell construction equipment and supplies in Vientiane.

The showroom is now the fourth bran ch. “We also plan to open branches in other provinces in the near future,” Mr Waddana added.
