PM asks for quick support for affected foreign enterprises
PM Nguyen Tan Dung on Sunday issued an Instruction to task relevant ministries, agencies and localities to beef up the realization of measures to support foreign-funded enterprises which were affected by recent anti-China protests in some localities.
Local authorities must set up working teams at the management boards of industrial parks and economic zones where affected foreign enterprises have been reported to assist them in performing administrative procedures and immediately dealing with issues under their assigned competence.
The working teams, directly led by a leader of the local People’s Committee, are in charge of regularly examining and supervising all support steps, including damage statistics, classification and evaluation, then report to the Ministries of Finance, Planning and Investment. Upon the reports and proposals thereof of these Ministries, the PM will consider and decide the next moves.
The Government chief also assigned the Ministry of Planning and Investment to work with relevant ministries, agencies and localities to set up an inter-agency task force to coordinate the support work.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment must quickly provide detailed instructions to help Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Ha Tinh to continue implementing support measures enshrined in the Government Office’s Notice 207/TB-VPCP on May 20, 2014 and Notice 210/TB-VPCP dated on May 22, 2014.
PM Dung requested the Ministry of Public Security to continue coordinating with localities to ensure order and security, especially at industrial parks and economic zones, quickly regain and return looted assets to foreign investors, and make sure that the same incidents will not repeat.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment is responsible for coordinating with relevant ministries, agencies and localities to monitor and speed up the implementation of this Instruction and timely report emerging issues to the PM.
Over the past time, people across the country has vehemently denounced China’s illegal placement of an oil rig in Viet Nam’s waters. Some protesters violated legal regulations by damaging property of the State, individuals and enterprises, including foreign-invested ones, resisting on-duty officials, and affecting social security, order, safety and business production.
The Government has taken comprehensive measures to timely prevent and strictly punish the lawbreakers. As a result, the situation has been put under control. Most of the affected enterprises have resumed operation.
The Government pledged to continue necessary measures in line with Viet Nam’s law and its international commitments to ensure absolute safety for foreign agencies, businesses and nationals in Viet Nam.
