Vietnam firms enjoy sweet success from airing ads on Cambodian TV

Many Vietnamese businesses have penetrated deeper into the Cambodian market and captured additional market shares after their advertisements have been aired on the country’s national television channel, Apsara TV.

A campaign to run Vietnamese ads on the Cambodian TV channel was implemented for the entire year of 2013, and the result is encouraging, Pho Nam Phuong, director of the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC), the organization behind the program, told Tuoi Tre in a recent interview.

Many Vietnamese businesses had their export turnovers to the neighboring country surged by 30 percent to 40 percent, Phuong said.

“Remarkably, exports of the cooking utensil and children clothes of Kim Hang JSC and Da Gia Fashion Co rose 100 percent,” she added.

Several Vietnamese small- and medium-d enterprises are planning to expand their presence in Cambodia by opening new plants, showrooms and representative offices there, according to the director.

“Some businesses have happily reported that their products are now available in 20 out of 24 cities and provinces in Cambodia and they are getting much closer to the target of having their goods sold countrywide,” Phuong said.

In order to better support Vietnamese businesses in penetrating the Cambodian market, the ITPC is scheduled to organize the annual 2014 HCMC Export in Phnom Penh next month.

The trade promotional organization will also continue its campaign to help Vietnamese small- and medium-d enterprises run ads on Cambodian TV by covering 100 percent of expenses for the program.

“We are also considering expanding the ad campaign into Laos and Myanmar,” Phuong said.
