Japanese group opens chemical plant

Japan's Mitani Sangyo Group inaugurated its US$10 million chemical factory in Long Thanh industrial park in the southern province of Dong Nai yesterday.

Operational from next month, the Aureole Fine Chemical Products factory manufacture chemicals, liquid additives, cosmetics and animal feed across a 30 ha sprawl.

It is expected to generate jobs for hundreds of manual and skilled workers.

Phan Thi My Thanh, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People's Committee, said the province's 31 local industrial zones have so far accepted 1,400 foreign projects worth nearly $25 billion.

Among 40 countries and territories investing in Dong Nai, Japan is the fourth largest investor with 173 projects capitalised at more than $2.9 billion, she added.
