Shares advance on HCMC bourse

Shares advanced this morning on the HCM City Stock Exchange after suffering a tumble yesterday.

 

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index gained 0.22 per cent to end at 559.38 points.

About 52.7 million shares were traded in the afternoon session, worth VND862.5 billion, or US$41 million.

Most of the large-cap stocks gained this morning with the VN30-Index, tracking the southern city's top shares by capitalisation and liquidity, edging up 0.62 per cent to finish at 617.47 points.

Of these, six codes posted losses and six closed at their reference prices.

The gainers included the Masan Group (MSN), the PetroVietnam Drilling Corporation (PVD), the Hoa Phat Group (HPG) and the Da Nang Rubber Corporation (DRC), among others.

However, on the Ha Noi Exchange, the VN-Index lost 0.22 per cent this morning to end at 78.69 points, while the HNXFF-Index, comprising stocks with minimum free floating rate of 5 per cent, added a marginal 0.03 per cent to close at 79.62 points.

The HNX30-Index rose by 0.52 per cent to land at 157.35 points.

With 30.8 million shares changing hands, the trading value reached VND317 billion, or $15 million.
