Dong Thap aims to boost industrial production value

The southern province of Dong Thap is hoping to attain an industrial production value of VND16.5 trillion (US$775.5 million) this year.

The province will also strive to earn $634 million from exports, while importing retail goods and services to the tune of VND60 trillion ($2.82 billion) this year.

To realise the goal, the local authorities asked the Department of Industry and Trade to resolve the difficulties being faced by the enterprises operating in the province.

Although Dong Thap experienced many difficulties in developing its economy in 2013, the province still saw stable growth in industrial production, worth over VND15 trillion ($714 million)

The total value of retail goods and services reached almost VND50 trillion ($2.35 billion), while the export turnover rose to approximately $600 million.

According to provincial People's Committee chairman Le Minh Hoan, the local authorities have been creating favourable conditions to help enterprises access preferential policies and advantageous investment procedures to further boost their production and business.
