Businessmen have resumed business after long Tet holiday

Feng shui experts believe that there are three auspicious days for businessmen to start their business in the year of the horse 2014 – the fourth, sixth and ninth days of the Lunar New Year.

Vietnamese always keep very cautious when choosing the days for them to depart on trips or to start business in every lunar New Year. They believe that a good beginning makes a good ending.

If they gain good achievements from the very beginning, they would see a prosperous business year. It would be better to start business on an auspicious day, when clement genies rule the world, because they would support people and businessmen.

Mai Thu Huyen, CEO of Tincom Media, an event organizer, said the firm’s first client in the Year of the Horse is Hoa Sen Group, a big steel corporation, which would inaugurate its new building and organize the New Year ceremony in HCM City on the ninth day of the lunar year.

“Hoa Sen is a big loyal client of Tincom Media. Therefore, we hope we’ll have good luck this year with a lot of orders,” Huyen said.

Tincom Media has been following a special business culture. When workers come back to work after the Tet holiday, they attend a meeting where the managers send greetings to workers and give them New Year’s presents. After that, all the workers and their family members would go having lunch at the CEO’s house.

Nguyen Xuan Truong, a driving instructor of the Center for High Technology Application, would have a longer Tet holiday than civil servants and workers, which would only last until the next week. However, he requested students to come back to class on the sixth day of the lunar new year, because this was a “good day to start everything.”

“I am not superstitious. But I wish to have good luck,” he explained.

Do Quang, Director of the Thinh Thanh Building Material, Construction and Installation Company, also resumed the company’s business on the sixth day of the lunar new year after hearing that a lot of “lucky stars” illuminated on that day.

The sixth day of the lunar New Year is believed to be an auspicious day for all people. However, if businessmen want to find the days especially good to them personally, they would have to consult with feng shui experts.

The experts explain that some days could be good for some people, but would be bad to others, because different people receive different gifts from the God, depending on their morality, and merits of their ancestors.

Vu Thu Thuy, the owner of a gold jewelry shop on Nguyen Thai Hoc Street in Hanoi, who was born in 1978, said she is of harmonious moons with those who were born in 1979 and 1946. Therefore, she has invited some friends born in these years to be the first footers so as to bring good luck to her business.

However, some businessmen said they have doubts about the “qualifications” of the feng shui experts.

Pham Quang Hung, Director of the Quang Hung Eyeglasses Company, said he was once told to open his shop on the first day of the New Lunar Year. However, he did not follow the instruction, because he believed that no one would go buying eyeglasses on that day. They would stay at home or visit relatives instead of going shopping.
