JDB gives away pile of cash at Sikhay service unit

The Joint Development Bank (JDB) opened a new service unit at Sikhay village in Sikhottabong district, Vientiane, last week, with further openings planned for the northern provinces.

As part of the celebrations, Joint Development Bank gifted an account containing 50 million kip to one lucky customer, Ms Phoukham Bolivath.

Meanwhile the second prize of 20 million kip went to Ms Phoukhieng Phommasone and 5 million kip went to Ms Vilay Bannavong, Mr Anousone Vongphinith and Mr Pisa Chindamany, who won the third prize twice to receive two accounts.

The bank also awarded 10 fourth category prizes worth one million kip. Ms Vilay Bannavong received five of the prize accounts while the other winners were Ms Philavanh Soukkhamphone, Ms Phitsamay Souvannalath, Ms Soy Holanouphab, Mr Soulivong Phaxaysombath and Ms Veota.

In addition, JDB gave away three credit cards each with a balance of US$500 to Mr Khamhou Thongthavy, Mr Vilayphone Kosy and Mr Khanxay Xanaphan.

The ceremony to open the new Sikhay service unit was attended by Vice Governor of the Bank of the Lao PDR, Mr Sonexay Sithphaxay, JDB President and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr Ekkaphanh Phaphithack, and other senior officials.

The Joint Development Bank received approval to operate as a 100 percent privately owned business in October last year and the board of directors have increased their registered capital to meet the legal requirements of the Bank of the Lao PDR.

JDB also plans to open a further four service units in northern Laos to add to its current six in the provinces of Savannakhet, Borikhamxay, Vientiane, Champassak, Khammuan and Luang Prabang, and two in the nation's capital.

The bank has installed more than 40 ATMs nationwide, JDB Director Thongchaleun Khenmingmongkhon said last week.
