Can Tho hi-tech park gets under way
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh broke ground for the construction of a hi-tech development park in the Mekong city of Can Tho on Saturday.
The park covers 4.5ha with investment of US$21 million, including $17.7 million from an ODA grant provided by the South Korean Government and capital from the Vietnamese Government.
The park would fuel technology development and encourage business investment in local agriculture and fisheries, Ninh said.
Korean experts will help Can Tho to install equipment and train local engineers.
A number of Vietnamese officers will travel to the RoK for additional professional development.
The project will run on trial in 2014 until 2015, while manpower training and science and technology are transferred to Can Tho until the park can operate independently.
South Korea will provide manpower for the park and will call for Korean companies to take part in the project as well.
Ninh thanked South Korea for supporting the socio-economic development of Viet Nam and particularly the technology park in Can Tho .
