Swiss, Japanese firms partner in Lao pharmacy market

Two foreign companies operating in Laos, Switzerland's DKSH Business Unit Healthcare and Japan's Rohto Pharmaceutical, on Wednesday signed a business cooperation agreement on healthcare product sales and distribution services in Laos.

DKSH signed the agreement to provide commercial and distribution services to Rohto Pharmaceutical, according to a press release.

Under the agreement, DKSH will provideregistration, marketing, sales and distribution services for Rohto's eye drop products in the pharmacy channel across Laos, the press release noted.

“The p artnership with Rohto Pharmaceuticalenhances our existing portfolio of over-the-counter (OTC) brands and will further strengthen our position as the leading market expansion services provider for healthcare co mpanieswho want to grow their business in Laos,” said Kentaro Imamoto, General Manager, Business Unit Healthcare, DKSH Laos Ltd.

The agreement between DKSH and Rohto Pharmaceutical underlines DKSH's position as partner of choice for Asian pharmaceutical companies wanting to grow their presence in Asia, a direct result of the growing inner-Asian trade. It also highlights the company's expertise to launch new products in competitive market environments.
