VN-Index dips on poor trading
Shares on the southern bourse swayed between gains and losses several times before closing down, as the market lacked boosting news.
The VN-Index on the HCM City Stock Exchange slid down 0.17 per cent to end the day at 475.59 points.
Market breadth was neutral on the southern bourse with 92 stocks advancing, 87 tumbling, 83 closing unchanged and 44 stocks remaining untraded.
Many blue chip stocks were unmoved as foreign and domestic investors mainly stayed away, pushing down the market.

The VN30-Index, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange, slumped 0.74 points, or 0.14 per cent to close at 531.17 points.
Among its 30 members, 6 stocks advanced, 15 declined, and 9 were unmoved, reports FPT Securities.
The market volume was little changed from a day earlier, down 30 per cent with 32.6 million shares and fund certificates worth VND455 billion traded.
FLC Group (FLC) was the most active yesterday, trading 3.5 million shares, it rallied 6.7 per cent to end at VND4,800.
PetroVietnam Construction (PVX), came second in market volume with 1.8 million shares changing hands. It rose 4.5 per cent to close the day at VND7,000. Tan Tao Investment – Industry Corporation (ITA) closed flat at VND5,500 on a trade of 1.4 million shares.
Blue-chips like VNM, VIC, PVF, BVH, KDC and FPT slumped, weighing on the market.
At the close, 17 stocks were traded at the lower limit which was capped at 7 per cent by market regulators.
PXM led the downswing with a 17 per cent loss to end at VND500. TMS led the upswing with a 7 per cent gain to close at VND26,700.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index slid to 60.02 with a loss of 0.27 per cent, as poor liquidity eroded risk appetites in the previous two days. Investors turned more precious with local shares as the market lacked boosting news and liquidity continued to slump.
The HNX 30 Index – the tracker of top 30 stocks calculated based on free floating adjusted market capitalisation – dropped 0.07 point to end at 109.54.
The market breadth was neutral on the northern exchange. Among index members, 74 stocks rose, 76 tumbled, 75 closed unmoved, and 161 were untraded.
The volume was as low as 14.4 million shares worth VND95 billion, down 10 per cent in volume and 10 per cent in value from a day earlier. Sai Gon Ha Noi Bank (SHB), the most active with 1.5 million shares traded, rallied 1.6 per cent to end at VND6,500 per share. PetroVietnam Construction (PVX), came second in liquidity with over 1 mil lion shares changing hands, closed at VND3,600 per share.
Sai Gon Thuong Tin Real Estate Joint Stock Company (SCR) shed 1.82 per cent to end at VND5,300 per share on trades of nearly 1 million units – the third most active on this bourse. At the close, 12 stocks were traded at the lower limit which was capped at 10 per cent by market regulators.
