City expo shows tomorrow's world

Cutting edge digital devices and electronics are on display at the Viet Nam Consumer Digital World Expo (VCW 2013) that opened yesterday at the Riverside Palace Convention Centre in District 4.

The 18th edition of the expo has more than 100 local and foreign companies displaying their wares in nearly 200 booths.

The products on show are in eight categories, including hardware; office equipment; digital products; digital audio equipment, mobile and telecommunication equipment, software, and home appliances.

The event is co-organised by the International Data Group (IDG ASEAN), Viet Nam Internet Association, Viet Nam Digital Communications, HCM City Computer Association and CEO&CIO Club.

Organisers said the event aims to provide local computer programmers and mobile application producers with latest information and highlight new trends in the industry, thereby contributing to developing the ICT industry in Viet Nam.

They said the event is a networking opportunity for local and foreign entrepreneurs because it offers a place where they can meet and seek business partners.

In particular, the DEMO ASEAN event that is being held alongside VCW 2013 will provide a platform for start-up entrepreneurs and IT companies to introduce their latest products and services to technology experts and investment funds looking for investment opportunities in Viet Nam's ICT market.

DEMO ASEAN is held being Viet Nam for the first time.

Open until September 1, VCW 2013 and DEMO ASEAN are expected to attract more than 150,000 visitors
