Phongsavanh bank joins forces with Thai hospital

Phongsavanh Bank of Laos has joined with Khon Kaen Ram Hospital in Thailand to offer medical service privileges for Lao customers who hold the bank's credit and visa cards after learning an average of 200 patients seek medical treatment at the hospital every month.

The cooperation is in preparation for the upcoming Asean Economic Community (AEC) and in support of Khon Kaen province becoming a centre for medical services.

A memorandum of understanding on cooperation and privileges was signed last week in the province between the bank's Managing Director, Mrs Sengdao Bouphakonekham, and the hospital's Director Dr Somchai Kittiponghansa.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Vice Governor of Khon Kaen province, Mr Vinai Sitthimontol.

Khon Kaen Ram Hospital is a first class health facility that offers international standards of treatment and care, and is centrally located in Khon Kaen, a major hub in the northeast Issaan region of Thailand.

“Phongsavanh Bank would like to explore further business cooperation with Khon Kaen Ram Hospital, as they see the potential for mutual benefit by building links with other businesses concerned with healthcare,” Mrs Sengdao said.

She said the provincial Governor a nd committee from the Khon Kaen Chamber of Commerce had previously led business operators to confer with the managing director of the bank to enhance relations between the two countries and had demonstrated the capacity and potential of Khon Kaen in various sectors that would benefit Lao people.

“Khon Kaen Ram Hospital has become a business partner of Phongsavanh Bank. This cooperation will enable Lao nationals who use the bank's credit or ATM cards to obtain medical treatment and care conveniently and confidently from the hospital. They will also receive privileges as defined by the hospital,” Mrs Sengdao said,

“Khon Kaen Ram Hospital will offer privileges to Lao customers who require medical treatment and care at the hospital, especially those who use Phongsavanh Bank cards. This benefit will cover a hospital bed, medicines and other medical supplies,” Dr Somchai said.

According to the hospital, a large number of Lao people have sought medical treatment and care at the hospital over the past year, at an average of 200 people a month.

“The strategic plan is for Khon Kaen to become a medical hub and Khon Kaen Ram Hospital is ready to be part of this. We will organise health tours throughout the country to encourage Lao people to use the medical and health services in our pro vince,” he said.

At same time the hospital will promote its healthcare facilities in Laos, coordinating its efforts through Phongsavanh Bank, in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility plan.
