Shares maintain rise in HCM City, slide in Ha Noi

Rises of blue chips again sustained the market uptrend on the HCM City Stock Exchange this April 24 morning, but trading continued to be sluggish due to mounting caution among investors.

While the benchmark VN-Index added 0.2 per cent to close the morning's session at 474.63 points, the VN30 tracking the top 30 shares on the bourse climbed 0.5 per cent to 534.91 points.

Among the top four active shares this morning (with trades from between 500,000 and 800,000 shares), three were large-caps including Tan Tao Investment Industry (ITA), steelmaker Hoa Sen Group (HSG) and Da Nang Rubber Co (DRC).

ITA was also the most active code, with more than 831,600 shares changing hands at the unchanged price of VND5,900 a share.

Market volume of trades was low with more than 17 million shares, worth VND297 billion (US$14.1 million).

Meanwhile on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index dropped 0.15 per cent to finish the morning at 58.13 points on a low turnover of VND80.4 billion ($3.8 million).

Only two codes saw trades of over 1 million shares. They were Sai Gon-Ha Noi Bank (SHB) and property developer Sacomreal (SCR). Both shares closed flat at VND6,400.

Trading will resume at 1pm.
