Nation ships over 900,000 tonnes of rice in first 10 weeks

Viet Nam had shipped abroad 906,173 tonnes of rice by March 14, worth almost US$411 million, according to the Viet Nam Food Association.

At present, the price of dry unhusked rice in the Mekong Delta ranged from VND5,150 ($0.25) to VND5,450 ($0.26) per kilo.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, rice exports to some major markets in Africa, including the Ivory Coast, Ghana and Senegal were facing difficulties due to cheaper rice from India and Thailand.
