Blue chips continue to boost VN-Index

Rises of blue chips continued to boost shares on the HCM City Stock Exchange this February 28 morning, with the VN-Index surging 2.04 per cent to 475.21 points.

Most of the top 30 shares on the bourse jumped, including insurer Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), property developer Kinh Bac City Development (KBC) and Tan Tao Investment Industry (ITA), which hit their ceiling prices.

ITA is also leading the market on trades of 4.8 million shares. The stock currently trades at VND7,900 a share.

Other heavyweight shares such as dairy giant Vinamilk (VNM), VinGroup (VIC), Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group (HAG) and steelmaker Hoa Phat Group (HPG) also climbed, recording increases ranging from 1.8-5.5 per cent.

The VN30 tracking these top 30 shares was also up 1.77 per cent to close at 545.34 points.

Total trading value on the Southern bourse reached more than VND525 billion ($25.1 million) on a volume of 35.7 million shares.

Meanwhile, the HNX-Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange increased just 0.34 per cent to 62.82 points on a turnover of just VND201 billion ($9.6 million).

Sai Gon-Ha Noi Bank (SHB) was the most active code this morning with over 5 million shares changing hands. SHB added 1.37 per cent to hit VND7,400 a share.

Trading will resume at 1pm.
