Shares keep falling in HCM City

Shares fluctuated on the HCM City Stock Exchange November 27 this morning, closing on a negative note by the end of the morning. The VN-Index gave up another 0.22 per cent to stand at 377.08 points.

Market volume dropped significantly. Just 9.2 million shares, worth VND119.2 billion (US$5.7 million), changed hands.

Large-cap shares still slumped with the top 30 falling 0.31 per cent to 443.81 points.

Only steelmaker Hoa Phat Group (HPG), logistic company Gemandept (GMD) and Vietcombank (VCB) posted modest gains of 0.4-2.2 per cent – thanks to support from foreign buyers.

Sluggish trading meant no shares sold more than 1 million shares. Bac Giang Mineral Exploitable and Processing (BGM) was the most active with nearly 500,000 shares. BGM was being traded at VND4,800 a share.

Stocks recovered slightly on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, with the HNX-Index up 0.06 per cent to almost 51 points.

More than 10.5 million shares, worth VND62.4 billion ($3 million), were traded by the end of the morning.

Sai Gon-Ha Noi Bank (SHB) continued to be the most active code with 1.7 million shares changing hands, closing flat at VND4,800 a share.

Trading will resume at 1pm.
