September's FDI scored over $1 billion
September's foreign direct investment (FDI) reached over US$1 billion, accounting for nearly 10 per cent of the total nine-month FDI in Viet Nam, said the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
The processing industry and manufacturing attracted the most FDI, recording over $6.2 billion, which accounts for about 66 per cent of the total registered capital so far, the agency reported.
Also this month, real estate saw a total registered capital of over $1.8 billion, an increase of $80 million compared to last August, while other areas including wholesale, retail and media attracted only over $400 million.
FIA reported that Japan registered by far the highest with $4.7 billion, accounting for half of the total registered FDI, followed by Samoa and South Korea with $899 million and $711 million, respectively.
However, September's FDI disbursements only hit $820 million, which was the lowest level during the last five months, said FIA.
The total FDI registered in the first nine months of the year scored $9.5 billion, 30 per cent less than last year's FDI, added the agency.
Meanwhile, the FDI disbursement during the first nine months recorded $8.1 billion, two per cent lower than the same period of last year
