HCM City’s CPI increases up 1.21 per cent in September

HCM City’s consumer price index (CPI) rose by 1.21 per cent in September, according to the municipal Statistics Department.

The index has risen 3.38 per cent since late last year and 4.63 per cent over the same period last year.

Education saw the sharpest rise of 6.77 per cent, followed by transport (4.12 per cent). This is attributed to the commencement of the school year and recent price hikes in petrol.

Restaurant and food services increased of 0.35 per cent, of which food and foodstuff rose 1.36 and 0.08 per cent, respectively.

Meanwhile, the gold price soared 6.4 per cent against last month while the price of the US dollar was up 0.21 per cent.

Hanoi’s CPI increased by 2.47 per cent against August, significantly lower than the national figure.
