Trading improves in HCM City

Shares posted gains during this August 14 morning's session on the HCM City Stock Exchange.

Trading value rocked to VND829.1 billion (US$39.4 million), tripling yesterday morning's figure. A total of 40.7 million shares were sold.

The VN-Index added 0.85 per cent to hit 429.81 points, as gainers outnumbered losers by 133-59.

The VN30, representing the city's 30 leading shares by capitalisation and liquidity, ended 1 per cent higher at 513.88 points.

Among the shares tracked by the index, only Kinh Do Confectionery Co (KDC), food processor Masan (MSN) and Phu Nhuan Jewelry (PNJ) retreated. Meanwhile, Vinamilk (VNM) hit its daily increase limit of 5 per cent to VND111,000 ($5.2) per share.

Military Bank (MBB) was the most active stock with a surging trading volume of more than 22 million shares. It rose 3.5 per cent.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the benchmark HNX-Index advanced 0.53 per cent to 70.33 points.

However, market value and volume decreased to VND187.3 billion ($8.9 million) and 20.5 million shares.

The HNX30, tracking the northern bourse's top shares, edged up 0.76 per cent to 134.59 points.

The two exchanges will reopen at 1pm.
