National stocks reverse losses

Shares rallied during this July 26 morning's session on both national stock exchanges. However, trading remained sluggish.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index added 0.14 per cent to 69.78 points after briefly losing ground. The HNX30 - tracking the exchange's top shares - added 0.5 per cent to reach 132.74 points.

Of nearly 400 listed stocks, 93 codes advanced while 70 slid.

Market value was unchanged from yesterday morning, standing at VND227.9 billion (US$10.8 million) on a volume of 25.3 million shares.

VNDirect Securities Co (VND) was the most active stock with 2.7 million shares changing hands.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index edged up 0.36 per cent to 414.38 points, as advancers outnumbered decliners by 120-76.

The value of trades reached only a half of yesterday morning's level, or VND255.16 billion ($12 million). Trading volume also fell 25.3 per cent to just 19.8 million shares.

Seventeen of the 30 leading shares tracked by the VN30 posted gains, while five others tumbled. The index also rose 0.36 per cent, reaching 490.14 points.

Investment group Tan Tao (ITA) was the most active stock in HCM City with 2.6 million shares exchanged.
