VN, WB to discuss financing for disaster management project

The Government has decided to set up a Vietnamese delegation to negotiate on a possible credit agreement for the Natural Disaster Management Project with the World Bank.

The delegation’s members come the State President’s Office, the Office of Government, the Ministries of Planning and Investment, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Justice, Agriculture and Rural Development, National Resources and Environment, State Bank of Vietnam and People's Committees of project provinces.

The project will be implemented in ten central localities of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Ninh Thuan and Da Nang from 2012 to 2016.

The Government authorized Mr. Doan Hoai Anh, Director General of the State Bank of Vietnam’s International Cooperation Department to head the delegation.

The Natural Disaster Management Project is the continuation of the World Bank-funded Natural Disaster Risk Management Project implemented in central provinces since 2005.

The objective of the Natural Disaster Management Project is to support for the realization of the national strategy natural disaster prevention, response and mitigation in Vietnam.
