Dung Quat plant exports biofuel to Philippines

The PetroVietnam Central Biofuels Joint Stock Company (PCB) shipped 4,300 cu.m. of ethanol products from Dung Quat Oil Refinery in the central province of Quang Ngai to the Philippines on June 26.

The PCB plant was completed in March, 2012 and uses raw sliced cassava to produce ethanol.

Its output is 100,000 cu.m. a year, of which 5,000 cu.m., or 5 per cent, is for the domestic market, while 95 per cent is exported to markets overseas, mainly the Philippines .

Ethanol is used to produce the biofuel E5, which is used in internal combustion engines such as motorcycles and cars.
