Stock trades battle headwinds

Similar to the previous day late trades increased in volume to put some respectability on the index's turnover which climbed from the previous day's US$9.3K to US$28.5K.

The index yesterday made a small gain resulting from a 100kip rise in the BCEL stock price.

The index closed up 2.67 points to finish at 995.62 points - its first gain in 7 days.

BCEL only traded in the latter 4 sessions from 6,800 kip reaching 6,950 in the 4th closing before finishing the day up 100 kip at 6,900 kip. It was the banking stock's first rise in 6 days, but only on just above 12K stocks and a 50pct gain to the previous day's low trades of 8K.

EDL-Gen was absent yesterday until a late charge of 30K hit the final session, thereby reversing the previous day's lull of 3K stocks. For the electricty company all remained unchanged for the 6th day in a row at 4,800 kip.
