Gov’t outlines key solutions for the rest of 2012

The Government is determined to focus on facilitating production and business, controlling inflation and stabilizing marcro-economy while gradually restructuring the economy for the rest of 2012, according to the Government’s latest report.

The report, which was presented by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the opening ceremony of the 3rd working session of the National Assembly on Monday, says the Government will focus on the following specific tasks:

Firstly, accelerate production, business and investment and pursue inflation curbing and macro-economic stabilization.

Accordingly, the Government requested inferior levels to effectively realize the Resolution 13/NQ-CP dated on May 10 2012 on some solutions for easing difficulties against businesses and supporting the market.

Especially, they are tasked to lower interest rates and expand credit accession for small and medium-d businesses, auxiliary industries and rural development.

The Government will also take measures to assist businesses which have performed effectively but facing financial difficulties.

Secondly, restructuring the economy and renovating the growth model towards improving the quality, efficiency, and competitiveness of the economy.

Restructuring investment, financial system and State-owned enterprises will be done first.

Regarding investment, the Government will review and amend investment decentralization regime and finalize a medium-term investment plan which will be submitted it to the National Assembly for approval.

For financial system, the Government will speed up healthy development of securities market and financial services to create a channel for sustainable capital mobilization for the economy.

In terms of SOEs, the role, functions and obligations of these enterprises will be clarified.

Thirdly, better the implementation of policies for social security, social welfare and environmental protection.

The Government will quickly issue and implement the strategies on education and vocational training through 2020.

The Government will also deploy the national target program on overcoming environmental pollution and adapting to climate change.

Fourthly, perfecting legal system, synchronously realizing administrative reform program, and beefing up anti-corruption and wastefulness.

The central Government will focus on settling complaints and denunciations, particularly prolonged cases relating to land eviction, compensation, and resettlement support.

Thirdly, enhance national defense and security, ensuring social order and safety, and improving the efficiency of diplomatic work.

Accordingly, the Government is determined to consolidate national defense and security, firmly protect independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

It will continue fostering cooperation to settle divergences on the East Sea through peaceful measures and on the basis of international law.

Vietnam will also actively engage in negotiating new trade agreements like the Trans-pacific partnership – TPP and trade agreement with the European Union.

Sixthly,, intensify information dissemination to create social consensus.

Leaders of ministries, agencies and localities are responsible for timely providing precise and transparent information to mass media.
