Stocks rush to ceiling prices as stock market continues upward trend

The presence of large-cap stocks including STB, VNM, SSI and FPT in the list of gainers on today's trading session helped push the VN-Index forward for the third consecutive day, up 1.48% or 5.52 points to close at 378.2.

136 out of the total 155 stocks listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange reported gains, with a majority of them traded at ceiling prices. Only 17 stocks declined and two others saw no trade.

Total market trading volume also increased sharply with over 17.3 million shares and fund certificates changing hand via both order matching and negotiations for over VND 472 billion.

SSI today returned to the list of most traded stocks with over 2.1 million shares matched, followed by STB (over 2 million units), REE (over 657,000 units), FPT (over 639,000 units) and VSH (over 515,000 units)

The northern bourse also witnessed its fourth straight increase on the first session of the week. Investors rushed to place buying orders. As many as 118 listed stocks on the bourse were gainers, with almost all of them hitting ceiling prices, while only nine dropped. Three stocks stayed still while nine other had no trade. Investors traded 3.3 million shares worth VND 87 billion.

Closing the session, there were many bids left while there were no offers at all on the trading board.

The HASTC-Index rose 2.45% or 2.72 points to close at 113.81.
