The central city of Đà Nẵng and Vietjet Aviation JSC have signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement for 2026-30 to expand air connectivity, promote tourism and attract investment.

The agreement, signed by the municipal People's Committee and Vietjet on Wednesday, aims to strengthen cooperation in aviation, tourism, trade, investment promotion, digital transformation and international market development.

Nguyễn Thị Anh Thi, vice chairwoman of the committee, said air connectivity has played an important role in promoting tourism, trade, investment attraction and international integration.

Đà Nẵng will continue to strengthen links with major economic and tourism centres at home and abroad to capitalise on its development potential and expand its international market reach, she said.

The agreement will provide a basis for both sides to implement practical initiatives in developing air routes, promoting destinations, connecting businesses and organising events, Thi said, urging municipal departments and agencies to work closely with Vietjet on specific action plans.

Vietjet Vice President Đỗ Xuân Quang said Đà Nẵng is an important destination in the airline's flight network and a key gateway linking central Việt Nam with domestic and international economic and tourism hubs.

The airline has brought millions of visitors to the city through its domestic and international network, supporting tourism and trade while raising Đà Nẵng's profile among international travellers, he said.

Under the agreement, Vietjet will seek to expand air connectivity and work with the city to promote tourism, trade and investment, Quang added.

Vietjet has supported Đà Nẵng's efforts to expand its flight network and strengthen connections with key international markets. The airline has introduced direct services to India and worked with the city to organise charter flights from Russia and other Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries.

From December 20, Vietjet plans to launch routes connecting Đà Nẵng with Osaka in Japan and Jakarta in Indonesia, further expanding the city's international connectivity.

Under the 2026-30 partnership, the two sides will also cooperate in destination marketing, market research, technology adoption, digital transformation, cultural and trade events, business networking, sustainable tourism and corporate social responsibility programmes.

The municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will coordinate with Vietjet and relevant municipal agencies to develop annual action plans and identify priority initiatives based on market demand, the city's tourism development strategy and the airline's operational plans.

The cooperation is expected to link tourism promotion more closely with air connectivity and the capacity of tourism services, helping the city expand its visitor markets and support its economic development.
