Vietnamese technology corporation CMC and the Republic of Korea's LOTTE Innovate have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate in digital infrastructure and technology services, targeting opportunities in Việt Nam, the Republic of Korea and regional markets.

The agreement was signed in Hà Nội on October 13, covering five areas of collaboration: data centres, electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, security, offshoring services and cloud computing.

Under the agreement, the two companies plan to explore joint data centre projects, combining CMC Corporation's infrastructure and operational capabilities in Việt Nam with LOTTE Innovate's industry expertise and customer network.

In EV charging infrastructure, the partners will explore opportunities to develop charging networks, including charging equipment, technology platforms, infrastructure and operational services, with the aim of supporting sustainable mobility.

The companies also intend to seek cooperation in cybersecurity to help organisations strengthen system and data protection and mitigate information security risks.

For offshoring services, CMC will contribute its technology workforce and global service delivery capabilities, while LOTTE Innovate will bring its customer network and understanding of the South Korean market. The partnership aims to enable both companies to provide technology services to clients in the Republic of Korea and other markets.

Their cloud computing cooperation will focus on expanding cloud adoption in Việt Nam, helping enterprises modernise digital infrastructure and accelerate digital transformation.

Trần Văn Minh, CEO of CMC Korea, said the partnership would support CMC's international expansion while strengthening the role of its Korean operation in connecting Vietnamese technology capabilities with major South Korean corporations.

The two companies expect to deliver software development services together and develop scalable digital solutions for Việt Nam, South Korea and regional markets as demand for digital transformation and artificial intelligence adoption accelerates, he added.

Choi Jong Pil, general director of LOTTE Innovate Việt Nam, said Việt Nam was a key market in the company's global strategy.

"Through this MoU with CMC Corporation, we aim to combine the capabilities of both companies and explore new opportunities in advanced technologies, contributing to accelerating digital transformation and AI adoption for businesses in Vietnam and across the region," he said.
