Vietnam Customs held a working session with Alibaba Group on Thursday to exchange experience and explore cooperation in the management and facilitation of cross-border e-commerce, aiming to support businesses in expanding into new markets while improving customs administration.

During the meeting, Alibaba representatives praised Vietnam Customs for its progress in customs reform and modernisation, particularly its efforts to apply digital technologies and streamline procedures to facilitate import and export activities.

Alibaba said it would continue working with Lazada and other partners to promote cross-border e-commerce, helping businesses – particularly small- and medium-sized enterprises – expand their market reach and integrate more deeply into global supply chains.

Alibaba also shared its experience of working with China Customs in managing cross-border e-commerce and presented practical models and solutions that could serve as references as Việt Nam continues to improve its regulatory framework for the sector.

Vietnam Customs said stronger engagement with leading global e-commerce companies would help it keep pace with developments in the digital economy and study advanced regulatory models.

The exchange is expected to support the development of a regulatory framework that both facilitates legitimate trade and ensures effective State management.
