Consumer goods manufacturer Unilever Vietnam has received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister in recognition of its achievements in business operations and social contributions during the 2020-25 period.

The award was presented at a ceremony attended by representatives of HCM City authorities, the British Consulate General, business associations and company partners.

Speaking at the event, Bùi Minh Thạnh, Vice Chairman of the HCM City People's Committee, said Unilever Vietnam had demonstrated how sustainability could be integrated into business strategy, aligning with the city's efforts to develop a green, digital and circular economy.

He expressed hope that the company would continue contributing to priority areas including science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, the green economy, and improvements in living standards.

Nguyễn Thị Bích Vân, country general director of Unilever Vietnam, said the recognition reflected the company's long-term commitment to creating economic and social value alongside business growth.

Unilever Vietnam has operated in the country for more than 30 years. The company said it has created nearly 1,400 direct jobs and supported around 10,000 indirect jobs through its supplier and partner network.

Products manufactured at its facilities in Củ Chi and Bắc Ninh are supplied to both domestic and international markets. The company said automation rates at the factories have reached 98 per cent.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Unilever Vietnam maintained supplies of essential consumer goods while supporting public health initiatives.

The company has also implemented community programmes focusing on health, hygiene and sanitation, including campaigns under the Lifebuoy, P/S and VIM brands.

Looking ahead, Unilever Vietnam said it would focus on four priorities: meeting consumer needs through product innovation, strengthening supply chain capabilities, expanding the use of technology and workforce development, and advancing sustainability initiatives.

According to the company, these priorities are intended to support Việt Nam's goals of improving productivity, accelerating digital transformation and green transition, and enhancing long-term competitiveness.

The recognition comes as Việt Nam seeks higher-quality growth and stronger long-term competitiveness.

As the country accelerates digital transformation and green transition, businesses are increasingly expected to improve productivity, strengthen supply chains and contribute to a more resilient and sustainable economy.
