Following the handover, Thông will continue to serve as vice chairman of the board, focusing on strategic planning and long-term development orientation. The handover, set for early Q2 2026 after the peak business season, is designed to secure the completion of first-quarter targets and maintain smooth operations across the system.
Thông intends to pursue a new career path as a financial investor and business renovator, exploring opportunities in emerging sectors of the new era. He first discussed this direction with the BOD in 2024.
Over the past two years, the company has implemented a structured succession plan, including building a strong talent pipeline, gradually transferring concurrently held positions within the executive board, and finalising the CEO transition to safeguard operational stability.
His successor, Phan Quốc Công (born 1970), has more than 30 years’ experience in corporate governance and executive management. He holds a doctorate in business administration, an MBA, and a degree in electrical engineering.
Between 1993 and 2003, he held management roles at Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group, Electrolux Vietnam, SmithKline Beecham and Nestlé Vietnam. From 2004 to 2014, he was founder and CEO of International Consumer Products JSC (ICP), building it into a leading domestic personal care manufacturer with well-known brands including X-Men, Purité and Thuận Phát.
Since 2015, he has invested in and developed technology-driven businesses, serving as chairman, co-founder or board member at several companies, including Saigon Food, Wakamono, Moonshot Biotech and One Solution Tech.
He previously sat on the boards of PNJ, Mekong Capital and Thế Giới Di Động, and was honoured with the “EY – Entrepreneur of the Year” award in 2012. He has been a member of the Young Presidents’ Organisation since 2009.
PNJ said Công is known for building system-based organisations, promoting integrity, efficiency and sustainable growth. His appointment is expected to ensure operational continuity while supporting the company’s next phase of development.
