VIMOX 2025 spotlights sustainable transition in shipbuilding and offshore industries

The Vietnam International Marine and Offshore Expo 2025 (VIMOX 2025) took place from November 19 to 21 at The ADORA Center, bringing together more than 100 exhibitors and over 3,000 participants from Government agencies, industry organisations and businesses in maritime, shipbuilding, offshore engineering and renewable energy.

At the VIMOX technical conference, Chief Strategy Officer at Stavian Industrial Metal Vũ Thị Xoan gave a presentation titled 'The Sustainable Transition for the Shipbuilding and Offshore Wind Industry'. Her talk explored global decarbonisation trends, the growing demand for green materials and strategies for sustainable development across marine-related industries.

The company highlighted its capacity to meet evolving technical standards and environmental regulations, leveraging a network that spans more than 20,000 partners in over 100 countries.

In line with global emissions reduction efforts, Stavian Industrial Metal is expanding its green metal supply chain. Agreements with ACME Group and Green Steel WA Collie Pty., Ltd. aim to provide low-emissions HBI, DRI and steel products for shipbuilding and offshore wind projects, reflecting the industry’s shift toward sustainable materials.

Stavian Industrial Metal CEO Nguyễn Minh Tiệp said the firm’s participation at VIMOX 2025 supports the adoption of higher material standards and improved supply chain practices, while helping local enterprises connect with international markets.

Exhibitors showcased a range of solutions designed to support operational efficiency and compliance with technical and environmental standards. Discussions focused on the use of advanced materials, logistics solutions and strategies for integrating sustainability into shipbuilding, offshore construction and renewable energy projects.

The event also highlighted developments in low-emission metals and green supply chains, reflecting the industry’s response to evolving regulatory requirements, including IMO emissions standards, the EU Emissions Trading System and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.

Participants noted that expanding knowledge sharing platforms and promoting sustainable practices are critical for enhancing Việt Nam’s maritime and offshore sectors.

VIMOX 2025 offered opportunities for collaboration, technology exchange and closer integration with global supply chains, supporting the continued modernisation and competitiveness of the industry.
