Korean Sphere AX company, a technology enterprise with a representative office located in Đà Nẵng Software Park 2, has inked Memorandums of Understanding with the Đà Nẵng Innovation Start-up Support Centre and Telecommunication Infrastructure Investment, Construction and Development Joint Stock Company in implementation of research in ICT, AI and digital transformation in the central city.

South Korea's Sphere AX company, a technology enterprise with a representative office located in Đà Nẵng Software Park 2, has signed Memorandums of Understanding with the Đà Nẵng Innovation Start-up Support Centre and Telecommunication Infrastructure Investment, Construction and Development Joint Stock Company on research and advanced technology applications in Đà Nẵng.

The trilateral agreement is seen as a progressive cooperation deal between domestic and foreign partners in innovation and technology in building Đà Nẵng into a ‘smart’ city and a digital-based, sustainable economic hub in central Việt Nam.

Director of SPHERE AX Vietnam Kwang Hwee Kim said the three-party strategic partnership is aimed at executing research, testing and application projects in advanced technologies within the fields of information and communication technology (ICT), artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation in the central city.

“SPHERE AX, as a company with expertise in AI and smart solutions, will propose and deploy appropriate technologies that address the city’s practical needs and development goals during the digital transformation period,” Kim said.

“Through this collaboration, all parties are expected to generate tangible technology projects that promote smart and sustainable urban development while enhancing the city’s competitiveness in the digital era.

“The Vietnamese market has been recognised for its growth potential, and the company established a local subsidiary in Đà Nẵng in May. Việt Nam is among the fastest and most proactive Southeast Asian countries in planning digital transformation, with significant Government and municipal interest and investment in ICT- and AI-related industries,” he added.

Following the Vietnamese Government’s announcement of the ‘Digital Transformation Action Implementation Plan', various Government agencies have begun full-scale ICT transformation initiatives. These developments present a promising opportunity for SPHERE AX’s entry into the Vietnamese market, prompting the company to engage in proactive business activities, the director said.

The company had previously partnered with the former Đà Nẵng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to implement a pilot project for the ‘AI-Based Early Forest Fire Monitoring System' initiative.

Đà Nẵng is increasingly expected to evolve from a tourist destination into a major hub for cutting-edge technology. The city's government has already started implementing strategic policies to secure AI and semiconductor capabilities, positioning Đà Nẵng to emerge as a leading technology city not only in Việt Nam but across Southeast Asia.

SPHERE AX, founded in 2008 in South Korea, will provide AI technologies in the field of public safety, contributing to the city’s AI-driven urban development by 2030. It will also provide AI systems uniquely tailored to Việt Nam, carrying the ‘Made-in-Việt Nam’ label, Kim said.

South Korean investors have spent a total of US$1.33 billion on 345 projects in Đà Nẵng, making it the fourth largest source of foreign investment in the city.
