FPT strengthens commitment to building Việt Nam’s semiconductor ecosystem

FPT Corporation has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Việt Nam’s semiconductor industry at the launch of the Semiconductor Alliance organised by Vietnam National University Hà Nội (VNU) this week.

The Alliance aims to boost training, research and the supply of skilled workers for the semiconductor industry, in line with Resolution 57-NQ/TW and Decision 1017/QD-TTg on developing a national semiconductor workforce.

The first phase brings together more than 20 domestic and international organisations, including leading universities (VNU Hà Nội, VNU HCMC and FPT University), global partners (Sungkyunkwan University, Kumamoto University and HSE University) and major enterprises such as Viettel, FPT, Nisso and MRIV International. 

Members will collaborate to share laboratories, strengthen training programmes, promote technology transfer and advise the Government on policies to support the semiconductor ecosystem.

Nguyễn Vĩnh Quang, Director of FPT Semiconductor, noted that Việt Nam faced two key gaps: limited university-business cooperation and weak inter-enterprise links. 

“The Alliance provides the foundation to connect all stakeholders and accelerate Việt Nam’s semiconductor ambitions,” he said.

FPT continues to invest in training through bachelor’s programmes, specialised technical pathways and international '2+2' partnerships. These initiatives support the company’s goal of training 10,000 semiconductor engineers by 2030, contributing to the national target of 50,000 engineers.

Since founding FPT Semiconductor in 2022, FPT has developed and exported PMIC and Power IC products designed entirely by Vietnamese engineers. 

The company is now expanding into MCU, AI-on-Edge, IoT and automotive chips, while strengthening capabilities in packaging and testing to build a comprehensive 'Make in Vietnam' semiconductor product ecosystem.
