The People's Committee of Thanh Hóa Province, in co-ordination with WHA Group, held the groundbreaking ceremony for the WHA Smart Technology 1 - Thanh Hóa industrial park infrastructure investment and business project on Tuesday, signalling a major step in the province’s push for high-tech development and sustainable industrial growth.
The project covers more than 178 hectares with a total investment of over VNĐ1.32 trillion (US$52.5 million).
It will be implemented in the communes of Hoằng Giang, Hoằng Sơn and Hoằng Phú in Thanh Hóa Province.
The park will be developed as an eco-friendly, smart industrial model, integrating innovation, digitalisation and sustainable practices to optimise operational efficiency.
It will meet the highest environmental standards and cater to high-tech industries such as electronics, electrical equipment, automotive parts, logistics and supporting industries.
The project is expected to complete all construction within 36 months, with the goal of attracting secondary investment projects by the end of next year.
This initiative is set to contribute positively to local socio-economic development.
The first phase of the project, covering 178 hectares, has broken ground and is ready for handover to secondary investors.
To date, WHA has committed approximately $360 million in investments across Việt Nam, with projects spanning Hà Nội, Hưng Yên, Nghệ An and Thanh Hóa.
In his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony, Lê Tiến Lam, permanent vice chairman of the provincial People's Council, emphasised that the project was a significant milestone, providing vivid proof of the province’s effective development strategy to attract FDI, develop supporting industries with modern technology, contribute to industrialisation and urbanisation, restructure the economy, create jobs, increase workers’ incomes and boost the local budget.
