Cà Mau province invites investment in airport, seaport, highways

After merging with Bạc Liêu, Cà Mau province has a larger development space. The province has advantages in developing logistics service industries such as Hòn Khoai multi-purpose port, airport, and three expressways connecting with the economic centres of the region and HCM City.

Once seen as a far-flung corner of the Mekong Delta, Cà Mau is stepping into the spotlight, calling on businesses to invest in its airport, expressways and seaport as part of an ambitious push for growth.

At the 2025 Business Forum held on Sunday by the provincial People’s Committee in coordination with the Vietnam Business Association, Phạm Văn Thiều, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, said Cà Mau is no longer a remote or isolated province but has been identified by Vietnamese leaders as a gateway to the sea, offering vast potential, distinct advantages and outstanding opportunities that have created new momentum for development.

Following its merger with Bạc Liêu, Cà Mau now enjoys a broader development space and strong prospects for logistics and service industries, including the Hòn Khoai multi-purpose port, its airport and three expressways connecting the province to major economic centres in the region and HCM City. The province hopes to attract businesses to invest and collaborate on developing the seaport, airport and expressway projects.

Cà Mau has identified business growth as a key priority, serving as a driving force for economic expansion, job creation, improved labour productivity, modernisation and economic restructuring.

Forum participants also analysed and reassessed the province’s potential and strengths in energy, fisheries, shrimp processing, transport infrastructure, industrial park infrastructure and economic zones.

Võ Thị Thu Hương, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry’s Mekong Delta Region branch, said Hòn Khoai Port is of special interest to investors. The port, together with the upgraded road and traffic systems, will create optimal conditions for goods from the Mekong Delta to reach global markets — a significant opportunity for enterprises to join the international production and supply chain.

To ensure a secure and favourable investment environment, Thiều called on the provincial People’s Committee to review and refine its planning, providing a solid foundation for guiding future investment attraction.
