A fresh logistics partnership is set to accelerate less-than-truckload (LTL) transport services across Việt Nam.
Seino-ITL Logistics, a joint venture between local provider ITL Corporation and Japan’s Seino Holdings, was recently established in HCM City. Combining ITL’s domestic expertise with Seino’s decades of experience in freight and distribution, the new company aims to strengthen and expand LTL transport nationwide.
The partnership comes amid sustained growth in Việt Nam’s logistics sector, which has recorded annual increases of 14-16 per cent in recent years. According to the General Statistics Office, freight volume in the first seven months of this year reached 1.67 billion tonnes, up 13.7 per cent year on year. Freight turnover rose 13.6 per cent to 345.4 billion tonne-kilometres.
While full-truckload (FTL) shipping remains the dominant mode of road transport in Việt Nam, LTL services, where multiple shipments share space on a single truck, are beginning to attract interest due to their cost efficiency and flexibility. Seino-ITL Logistics seeks to address this emerging demand by offering scheduled LTL and FTL services supported by a fleet of container trucks and double-deck vehicles.
The company’s operations will draw on ITL’s existing infrastructure, including warehousing facilities totalling over 500,000 square metres and a transport fleet of more than 700 trucks and 1,200 container trailers. ITL also maintains a regional presence with branches in Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.
Seino-ITL Logistics General Manager Sam Sang said the venture would focus on strengthening road connectivity between Việt Nam’s northern, central and southern economic zones. He noted that the collaboration aims to improve distribution efficiency and support domestic businesses in adapting to global supply chain standards.
Industry observers view the joint venture as part of a broader trend towards professionalising logistics services in Việt Nam, particularly as demand grows for more specialised and scalable transport solutions.
