Vietnam National Industry - Energy Group (Petrovietnam) has been honoured by Fortune magazine in its Fortune Southeast Asia 500 list for 2025, ranking it 11th among the region’s largest enterprises.

The group was also named the fifth-largest energy company in Southeast Asia and the top-ranked enterprise by scale in Việt Nam, reaffirming its exceptional position in both revenue and operational capacity amidst a volatile global landscape.

This marks the first time Petrovietnam has appeared in a regional and international Fortune ranking. Its inclusion not only reflects impressive financial figures but also underscores the success of a consistent journey of restructuring, modernising governance and optimising business efficiency. The group has proactively seized global transition opportunities while maintaining its commitment to sustainable development.

In 2024, Petrovietnam achieved several record-breaking milestones, with total consolidated revenue exceeding VNĐ1 quadrillion (approximately US$38.3 billion) for the first time. Its contribution to the State budget reached VNĐ165.6 trillion, while total investment surged to over VNĐ38 trillion, representing a 49 per cent increase year-on-year.

Moreover, the group surpassed all planned targets by margins ranging from 6 to 27 per cent and fully met its 2021–25 financial objectives ahead of schedule.

In tandem with its financial performance, Petrovietnam has remained steadfast in building a high-quality workforce, fostering a robust corporate culture, and promoting innovation across its operations.

A spirit of unity, discipline, and adaptive thinking has strengthened its internal capabilities, enabling the group to maintain domestic stability and steadily expand its regional influence.

Notably, over the past year, Petrovietnam has been at the forefront of participating in the global energy supply chain, advancing offshore energy initiatives and opening up new growth frontiers aligned with energy transition goals.

These achievements mark a significant milestone in its 50-year development journey, positioning Petrovietnam not only as an economic pillar of Việt Nam but also as a leading energy enterprise in the region.

This is the second edition of Fortune’s Southeast Asia 500 list, launched as the region emerges as a new global hub for manufacturing and investment, fuelled by major shifts in global supply chains.

According to the Fortune Southeast Asia 500 report, Việt Nam has 76 enterprises featured in the 2025 list, with a combined revenue exceeding $161 billion and a workforce of over 1.1 million employees. Petrovietnam stands out as a key contributor to these national figures, reaffirming its leadership role in propelling Việt Nam’s energy industry onto the global stage.
