Saigon Co.op coopts suppliers for ‘Action Month for Food Safety 2025’

Saigon Co.op has called on its partners and suppliers to sign a commitment to strengthen their control over product origin and quality as part of its “Action Month for Food Safety 2025” campaign launched on April 15.

It is in response to a directive on implementation of the action month from the Central Interagency Steering Committee on Food Safety.

This year’s campaign, from April 15 to May 15, will be rolled out at over 800 Saigon Co.op retail points nationwide, including Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food, Co.op Smile, Cheers, Finelife, Sense Market, and Co.op Online.

Saigon Co.op also collaborates with strategic partners to organise training for its food category personnel and fresh food suppliers.

It works with the HCM City Department of Food Safety and the National Numbering and Barcode Center to organise comprehensive training courses, including on traceability, to enhance the technical expertise of its staff.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dương Minh Quang, Saigon Co.op’s deputy general director, said: "Saigon Co.op ensures that all goods sold across its system are of high quality, with full and transparent  information on their origins.

“We absolutely do not trade in products that lack origin information or fail to meet quality standards.

“We are stepping up inspections and supervision to prevent and control any issues related to product quality with the goal of preventing food poisoning incidents.”

Saigon Co.op has a stringent quality control process that covers all stages -production, harvesting, transportation, and distribution.

At each retail location, the quality management division conducts regular inspections of storage conditions, temperature control and packaging standards, and uses specialised equipment to assess product quality.

Saigon Co.op also carries out random testing at its stores through accredited, State-designated testing centres.

It also operates mobile testing vehicles to regularly monitor product quality and ensure all products are safe and controlled before reaching consumers through its retail system.
